Backblaze Control Panel no longer compatible with DispayFusion

16 discussion posts | The Backblaze Control Panel window no longer works with DisplayFusion. When I move the window to a secondary monitor, the application continues to appear in the main monitor taskbar. I'm also unable to select that window in the DisplayFusion compatibility settings. This problem first appeared when I installed the latest version of Backblaze; before that it was working fine. So not sure if Backblaze somehow created this incompatibility, or DisplayFusion needs to recognize the application differently. |
Hi Bob, If you drag the crosshair over the Blackblaze window to select it as the application for compatibility, what comes up? Also, could you send me over a link to the software? Thanks!
Bob Lindsay | Owen, Nothing happens when I drag the crosshairs over the Backblaze window. Also, the Backblaze app doesn't appear in the list of applications that can be manually selected. Here's a link to the product page: https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-backup.html |
Hi Bob, Could you do the following to send me some more information about the application window that's having this issue?
Thanks! | |
Bob Lindsay | Hi Owen, Attached is the Windows Inspector file you requested. Thanks for your help with this. • Attachment [protected]: Window Inspector - Backblaze Control Panel (Nov 18, 2020 @ 11_47).html [43,137 bytes] |
Hi Bob, Thanks for sending that over. I spoke with our developers over this, and it seems like this is a windows security issue. The way Blackblaze is running their process, is making it inaccessible from Display Fusion, so unfortunately there's not much we can do to fix it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Bob Lindsay | Thanks for the update, Owen. If I want to contact Backblaze about this, do you have any suggestions on what I can describe to specifically highlight the problem? |
Hi Bob, You can let them know it seems to be an issue with auto elevation. If we manually run Display Fusion as administrator, it seems to work fine. If we run Display Fusion normally, and let it auto-elevate privileges where needed, that's where it seems to fail. Hopefully that will help you out. Thanks!
Bob Lindsay | That helps, thanks. I know running applications in administrator mode is normally not recommended, but is there any specific downside to me running DF that way? |
Hi Bob, Aside from the hassle of having to manually run it as administrator each time you open it, there shouldn't be any other issues
